Guidance to our Facilities - Wheelchair Users & Less Able Access

 Entrance into the building

The front double door entrance into the building is sufficiently wide, (when fully opened) to allow access with a wheelchair directly into our spacious reception area.

 Reception

The height of the reception desk is 3’6” and the reception bell is set just to the right of this. 

 Restaurants & Bar

The Richmond Room Restaurant & The Wellington Room Bar lead directly off of the reception area and are all on the level with wide access doors.  The Garden Room Restaurant has one step and assistance can be provided to enable access.

Washroom Facilities

An appropriately designed and spacious toilet and shower facility is available on the first floor (lift access is available).

On the ground floor there is a large toilet facility that is sufficiently wide to take a wheelchair and there are handrails to assist.  Note: this is not a dedicated Disabled Toilet and is more suitable for people who are able to stand-up from their wheelchair.

Lifts

We have 2 Lifts.  One lift can comfortably take one person sitting in a wheelchair and one assistant, standing.  The other lift is smaller and is for standing passengers.

 Bedroom facilities

The construction of the building does not easily lend itself to adapting our en-suite bathrooms to meet the desired standards for disabled access. As such we do not have an en-suite room that is dedicated and specifically designed for a person in a wheelchair or those with severe mobility problems. 

 However, some of our rooms are on the level and a very few do have sufficiently wide doors to allow access into the bathrooms with a wheelchair.  The bathrooms are not generally wide enough to turn a wheelchair around and where there are showers these are cubicle with a step.  While some customers may find these rooms suitable we do not personally recommend them as a disabled facility, customers must be aware of their own health and safety issues when using such facilities.  Since all of our rooms are different customers are advised to contact us to discuss their personal needs

To ensure that we always have suitable bathroom and toilet facilities available we do have a spacious ‘Wet Room’ with shower and toilet facilities situated on the first floor, this is fitted with all the regulatory requirements including an emergency pull cord.
